Raintree Paints the Town Green with Hope

“Agency Holds Gala to Honor Local Artist and to Help Foster Children”

New Orleans (February 10, 2016)

Raintree Children and Family Services announced today that the agency will honor celebrated artist James Michalopoulos  at the 8th Annual Paint the Town Gala on March 5, 2016. The gala takes place at Harrah’s New Orleans Theater, 228 Poydras Street, from 6-10pm with a patron party from 5-6pm at Ruth Chris Steak House, 525 Fulton. Cost to attend is $85 per person for general admission and $160 for patron party and gala.

The fundraiser includes great food, music by the Yat Pack, and silent as well as live auctions.  Food has been provided by Arnaud’s, the Palace Café, Mr. Mudbug, GW Fins, Ruth’s Chris, Chateau Golf & Country Club, Gordon Biersch, and La Louisiana Bakery. Guests can bid on a fabulous trip to Las Vegas, fine jewelry, hotel stays, and dining packages at five-star restaurants among other items in the auctions. All money raised will benefit Raintree Services which provides a home for teenage girls who have been neglected or abused. It will also fund programs for children who are developmentally disabled and will help in recruiting foster parents.

James Michalopoulos is being honored for his philanthropic leadership and continued support of Raintree.  The artist is world-renowned for his oil paintings and sculptures inspired by the landscapes and architecture of New Orleans, France and beyond.  His work used intense color and texture to depict exaggerated viewpoints and skewed perspectives with the canvas. He has been named the Official Artist of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival an unprecedented six times, with his work appearing each time on the coveted poster. His work is displayed in museums and public collections across the South and all over the world.
